35 Glorious Years As well as promoting the very best traditions in beer, cider and perry, the Campaign for real Ale (CAMRA) campaigns for good pubs too, as a quintessential element of British culture and community.

Welcome to South Herts CAMRA - we're the oldest CAMRA branch, supporting good beer and good pubs locally for over 35 years.

40 Years (or more) of Real Ale

After a trawl through Branch Records, Guides, Memory etc. here is a list of the only pubs in our modern branch area which we think have had real ale for all of our 40 years. Sadly, some others that were selling real ale in 1972 have since closed. But you may know differently! Or have any of these had a violent spasm of fizz during this time – no matter how short? Please let us know if you know of any other pubs which have served Real Ale continuously over the past 40 years.

South Herts Pub Of The Year

Congratulations to the following winners:

  • Gold Woodman, Wildhill
  • Silver Old Cross Tavern, Hertford
  • Bronze White Lion, St Albans

The Crooked Billet in Ware was awarded a Special Commendation.
